Dog Owner Arrested After Tragic 5th Floor Fall Kills Young Girl

A pet dog fell from the fifth floor of a building in Thane, Maharashtra, landing on a four-year-old girl and tragically causing her death.

Dog Owner Arrested – Police have arrested the owner of a pet dog that fell from the fifth floor of a building in Thane, Maharashtra, onto a four-year-old girl, resulting in her death, officials reported. The arrest took place on Thursday night, and an offence has been registered against the dog owner and three others in connection with the tragic incident, which occurred around 4:30 pm on Tuesday in the Mumbra area of Thane.

“The dog fell from the fifth floor onto the girl, who was walking below with a woman on August 6. The child sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead the same day,” stated an official from the Mumbra police station.

A case has been registered against the dog owner and three others under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, death by negligence, negligent handling of animals, and actions carried out by multiple individuals with a shared intent, according to officials.

Initially, the police had filed the case as an accidental death, the official added.

A video of the dog falling on the girl has gone viral on social media.
