The instructions, photos, and knitting patterns are detailed and going row by row, doable. I am gaining confidence as I continue. The gauge using all author recommended yarns and needles, has been perfect. Have just finished the last body part for Tilly the hare I had about 3 yards leftover yarn A, but it was enough so I am very happy. About the Scheepjes yarn, I usually dislike knitting with cotton, but this yarn feels very soft, never splits (with my sharp pointy needles) and has enough give to spare my arthritic wrists. My only suggestion, the book paper weight is perfect but I had difficulty keeping the page open to my project. Iâd pay $4-$5 more for a wire-bound version. I solved the problem by tearing apart all pages, trimming them, punching holds and putting them in a 3 ring binder. I am very happy with this purchase.

A lovely book and very detailed. Lots of pictures to help you along. The animals are all knitted flat and you seamed the pieces up before stuffing. The clothing is a mixture of flat knitting and knitting in the round. The animal bodies are all the same except for the heads, so all the clothing can be worn between them. Only the heads are different. This makes it pretty fun to mix and match different outfits.I would not recommend this book for a beginner knitter. The techniques are pretty advanced and it can be a little overwhelming if your just starting out. These animals are not a quick knit and will take time to complete them. If you do have experience then I’d highly recommend you give this book a try. After you’ve made your first one you’ll want to make them all. I have made Tilly the Hare and am now starting Charlie the Chimpanzee from her second book Wild Animal Friends.I plan to make many more animals from each book as they are so adorable and worth all the work that goes into them. I hope this review helps you decide if this is the right book for you. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
